Daily Inspiration

Everything you see in the world today is in existence because somebody somewhere gave themselves the permission to dream. In fact, they not only gave themselves permission to dream, but they also went ahead and realized their dream.  For instance, today we have crappers (toilets) because one guy called Thomas Crapper thought of making life easy for his boss. Not sure what had happened but whatever it was, am glad we have toilets in our homes. Remember the Wright Brothers? I guess if it weren't for them we'd still be sailing to America and other parts of the world not because we want to go on a cruise, but because that's the only way we could have been traveling long distance. Thank God for the Wright Brothers because through them, the concept of flying was introduced into the world. In a world of 7 plus billion human beings, can you imagine how many pigeons we would need in order to send messages across, from one person to another, or from one person to a group of people? Poor pigeons... [Continue reading]
Happy New Month y'all! The first part of the year is gone and we are onto the second half. If you have nothing else to be grateful for, at least you should be grateful for seeing the second half of the year! Since the year begun, there are things you probably wanted to get done but didn't because you thought the year was still young and you had many months ahead of you. Suddenly you now realize time is not on your side anymore and you are now panicking. STOP! Panicking will not help you get stuff done. As a matter of fact, it will only cause you to withdraw, to regret and to resent yourself for not starting whatever you wanted to start when you should have started. Instead of panicking this is what you should do; take a deep breath and NOW start doing what you should have started doing on 2nd of January 2017. Key word is NOW. You see, unless you start now you'll never get anything done. You will continue procrastinating until you realize it is 31st December 2017, then you end up... [Continue reading]
I think Pele put it best when he said, "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” And that my friends is the secret of success. You cannot order success like you go in a restaurant and order for food. You have to work for it. Nothing great is handed to you on a silver platter. Like someone else said, it takes tremendous efforts to accomplish something great.  To accomplish success, prepare yourself (by learning), then work hard (by applying what you have learnt and are still learning) and be persistent (don’t give up when you fail). Success is a result of focused preparation, lots of hard work and learning from your numerous failures. That's why the spelling of success is W-O-R-K. So the next time you ignore work because it is dirty and tedious, what you are essentially doing is saying NO to your possibility of succeeding. Get off your behind and go work! Even if it is a small... [Continue reading]
If I’ve said this before then I’m saying it again for emphasis: succeed in silence. Why? Because: 1. Not everyone wants to see you succeed, so they’ll want to stand in your way of success. 2. Not everyone will understand your journey, so they’ll try to discourage you. 3. Not every successful person wants you to be a success, so they will try to keep you down instead of helping you up to reduce competition.   The safest way to attain your success is with quiet precision, making positive strides towards your goal every day. To quote Frank Ocean, "Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise”.  Go on out and succeed in silence. Be Ignited. Be Inspired. Be Influenced. Become the best version of yourself you can ever be.
Think about when you visit a seamstress with an aim of getting yourself a new outfit done. What do you do? You either go to her with a pre-determined design in your mind, or with one already in your hand or on your phone. Why? Because there is no way she will be able to come up with an outfit for you without a design to follow. And so it is with life. The only way you will ever be able to create the life you want is if you first see it in your mind. You cannot produce what you don't see. You cannot create something you have no idea about. You have to create it first in your mind before you replicate it in real life. Think about it. Anything you ever did and succeeded in doing first started in your mind then it became a reality. If it was getting married to your spouse, you must have thought about this happening before you approached her, and she must have thought about being your wife before accepting your proposal. What about the house you are building? Did you just wake up and start... [Continue reading]
Yes it does. It requires time to practice, time to make mistakes, time to try again until you get it right. And even after you get it right, you still have to continue practicing because if you don't then you become complacent and eventually end up losing the edge you had while you were practicing. Then you have to start all over again, which requires even more time. Whatever it is you are planning on doing, whatever it is you've set your sights or focus on, keep trying, keep bettering yourself until you hit the bullseye. Not once but as many times as you need to in order to stay on top of your game. Nothing comes easy. Success doesn't just happen. Maintaining a position of success does not just happen. It requires a lot of sacrifice in terms of time, energy and other resources not only to succeed but also to retain/maintain that success. The reason why most people are one-hit wonders when it comes to succeeding in something is because once they achieve success in that thing, they... [Continue reading]
90% of the things I have accomplished in my adult life are as a result of being linked to someone who has been instrumental in helping me achieve them. Either they directed me to the right person(s) or they advised me on the right way to approach the issue at hand. I have gotten great positive results 100% of the times I have gone to visit someone after being introduced to them by a person with a higher authority or someone with a higher clout than them. Now whether this is done willingly or grudgingly that's another story all together. This is the power of a network. So here are my thoughts about creating a (winning) network....  We all need someone with broader shoulders (figuratively speaking) on whom to stand in order to see further than we can when standing on our own. I have read lots of books (still reading) listened to many successful people and even met some in person, but I am yet to meet anyone who has made it to the top just by themselves without the help of someone else.... It is as simple as the title reads. There is no challenge that was ever accepted that never brought change to the challengee (is there such a word?). According to one version of the English dictionary, the word challenge has been defined as, "the situation of being faced with something that needs great mental or physical effort in order to be done successfully and therefore tests a person's ability". Another version says, "A challenge is something new and difficult which requires great effort and determination." The two definitions above can be translated to mean that a challenge is something that can only be overcome by changing one's mentality from an old one to a new one in order to get the desired result. There is a famous Einstein quote that says, "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."  In other words, the key to overcoming challenges is change. For one to successfully overcome challenges, there are a few elements one must posses... [Continue reading]
What's the spelling of time? In my world, it is N-O-W i.e. NOW. Now is the only time you have because as you already know, yesterday is gone and tomorrow is yet to come.  Stephen R. Covey said something very profound; "The key is not spending it but investing in time." Why did he say that? Becasue there are people who "spend" their time doing useless, meaningless things that add no value to their lives. As a matter of fact, those things devalue their life. According to my understanding of the word spend, when you spend something it means you will never get it back again. It's gone for good. On the other hand when you "invest" in something, it means at one point in life it will give you some returns. May not be now or tomorrow, but eventually it will. So when you invest in your time, you are sure you will get some returns out of it. So, how do you invest in time? Here are some 5 pointers that you can apply? Never let a minute of your time go idle. Take advantage of your passive time to... [Continue reading]
Today you reaped (or will reap) whatever you did because sometime in the past you planted some seeds that have now borne you some returns. What you probably don’t realize is that some of those seeds might have been planted over a decade ago but you are reaping the benefits today.  Question is, what if you hadn’t planted those seeds then? That’s why I always tell people to make sure that no matter what is going on in their lives, they should always make sure that no day goes wasted. Plant as many seeds/seedlings today for you never know which ones and how many of them will germinate and become productive.  If it’s your health, plant seedlings of healthy eating and regular exercise and in due course you will reap your reward. If it’s about your personal growth, plant seedlings of developing yourself daily (through reading, listening to personal development material) and when the time is right, you will realize you have grown exponentially. If it’s about your finances, plant seeds of... [Continue reading]
Today I’ll let Calvin Coolidge speak for me:"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." Determination will go further than your skills, your talents, your connections, your “god-fathers and mothers” as well as your abilities.  Apply determination in everything you do and you’ll eventually reap your fruits. Be Ignited. Be Inspired. Be Influenced
There is a FIRST STEP in everything you do. Like the old adage says, “the journey of 1000 miles starts with the FIRST STEP." This day started with you opening your eyes and deciding to step out of bed. When you get to your office there will be that FIRST STEP you will need to take in order to set your day in motion. Could be taking our phone to call that customer, or opening your laptop to send that email. There will be a FIRST STEP. If you are unhappy with your weight then there is that FIRST STEP you will need to take;  could be joining a gym or a jogging club. Every area of your life has a FIRST STEP.  Now, unless you take that FIRST STEP, you will never know where it could have led you. You will never know what you are capable of achieving.  Like Ann Voskamp said, “Sometimes you don’t know when you’re taking the first step through a door until you’re already inside.” Today how about you shed off all your fear and you just take that FIRST STEP you need to take in order to...
