Happy New Year 2015 to you reading this column/article today. Indeed it is a great honor to be back here sharing my thoughts with you but above all, I am humbled that you always take time to read what I share. I hope this year you will share more of your feedback with me and that you will share the articles you read with your circles too. To start the year I’d like us to revisit my school days,... Wednesday was really not my day.  No, wait a minute, as a motivational speaker I cannot be negative, so let me rephrase that. Wednesday was a very trying day in the sense that by 3pm in the afternoon, nothing had worked as it should have. All the same I chose to stay positive since I was taught that a day has 24 hours and so far only 15 of those had  passed by the time I started writing this... [Read More]

For the last one week I've been learning a major lesson in adapting to change. I have to admit that at no point in my life had I ever imagined that simple things such as which side of the road one should drive on would ever be a problem for me. Until I stepped out of my usual sphere of operation (read comfort zone) and travelled to the Horn of Africa. Well, let's just say everything about this... [Read More]

People do odd things when they are bored. Say for instance the guy I saw the other day trying to run backwards on a treadmill. I don’t really know what he wanted to achieve but if you ask me, that’s more like courting disaster, but like I said, guys do some really odd things when they are bored. Of course seeing this guy doing what he was doing on the treadmill got my ever active mind wandering.... [Read More]

You never know how much “clutter” you’ve accumulated over the years until the day you are moving houses or for whatever reason you decide to re-organize your house or just one of the rooms, say your bedroom for example. In the bedroom, you have your wardrobe full of clothes, but if you are just starting out in life, maybe you don’t have a big house with a designated bedroom and a wardrobe just... [Read More]

Lately I have become addicted to a show that comes on DSTV’s Nat Geo Wild every Sunday from 7pm.  This show is about a man, no, actually it’s about dogs being “rescued” by a man whose mission is to ensure that every dog is paired with the right owner.  The word rescue is in quotes because in the real sense, these dogs are not homeless or stray dogs. On the contrary. It is very possible that most... [Read More]

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Martin Luther King, Jr. If this is not the first time you are reading this powerful quote from the late Martin Luther King, Jr, then I'm hoping you've at least had a chance in the past to think about the impact of those words. If not, let's take a few minutes to think through them together by using an example we can all... [Read More]

Life is very confusing at times, especially when so many things happen that don’t make “sense”. For instance, anyone remember the story or rather the theory of evolution? I remember when I was in school I was told that people evolved from some kind of monkeys, or was it chimpanzees? At that time the story seemed very logical and I “bought” it without questions. After all, my teachers were meant... [Read More]

It is exactly three days to the New Year and even though 2013 has 365 days like any other non-leap year, for me it has seemed like it has been twice as long. I am not superstitious but at some point during the year I was tempted to think that the “13” in the year was a sign of ill-luck. However, like someone once said, you don’t need to be in class for you to learn a new thing… how true this is!... [Read More]

The other day I was reminded of the famous Sir Isaac Newton of the Law of gravity fame. I have to admit that at first I couldn’t remember which subject it was I studied about him, but as I was perched on my loo I remembered him. So, why was I thinking of Isaac Newton while I was in the toilet? You see, I had just gotten home after being stuck in traffic for almost three hours and obviously me... [Read More]

It is interesting how human beings tend to not communicate with certain people until they find themselves caught up in a situation that requires them to “remember” those people arises. I admit, I have done this severally, and even you, if you will be honest with yourself will admit that there are people you have in your phonebook that you haven’t spoken to in years; some you probably can’t even...
